The SBX Cars platform put the first Mercedes-AMG One up for auction. Expectations were high, but the truth is that one of the 275 units produced by the Stuttgart brand went unsold.
Last Tuesday, the highest bid for the AMG One was $3.1 million, or about €2.91 million. However, the auction closed and the sale was not completed. The reason? The seller's expectations were probably not met.
It is important to note that this Mercedes supercar was viewed by more than 50,000 customers on SBX Cars.
Built with the purpose of being a kind of Formula 1 car for the road, the Mercedes-AMG One is equipped with a V6 combustion engine and four more electric motors, delivering a total of 1,063 hp of power, which is sent to all four wheels. It takes just 2.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h.
In addition to the engine, Mercedes engineers spent considerable time working on the One's lithium-ion batteries. As a plug-in hybrid, the capacity is only 8.4 kWh, but the main goal was to keep them cool so that the One would perform as desired. Mercedes had to use a complex liquid cooling system for each battery, but this allowed the battery weight to be low and the temperature to be around 45º. The One can travel about 18 km in all-electric mode.
Equipped with a mode called Race DRS, the AMG One can reach a top speed of 352 km/h (electronically limited).
