It was on May 5th that Wen, a Xiaomi customer, picked up his SU7, the first 100% electric from the Chinese manufacturer. The driver drove for 39 kilometers, until he had to stop after the car displayed a message on the dashboard.
"The car is about to stop, please pull over safely and contact the online service center", it appeared first, and then the message changed.
"The driving system has a problem and cannot be changed", indicating that it was not possible to switch between gears D and R, according to InsideEVs.
Xiaomi ended up taking the vehicle back to a technical center in Xiang'an, but admitted that it could not find the reason for the error that appeared. Worse than that, it was not possible to repair the electric car after a more thorough analysis.
The customer, despite the unfortunate episode, continued to want a Xiaomi SU7 and asked for a new vehicle, instead of a refund. However, he came up against the huge demand for this model. Each unit produced already has an owner and a scheduled delivery date.
Given this scenario, Xiaomi is negotiating a refund along with compensation for all the costs that the customer had.
