BYD presents the first plug-in hybrid that will arrive in Portugal

BYD has presented its first plug-in hybrid that will reach the European market and, consequently, the Portuguese. The Seal U DM-i will start its marketing in June this year, but its prices have not yet been disclosed.
The engines are distinct and the Seal U DM-i in the Design version has two electric motors with 201 and 161 hp, respectively, being equipped with an 18.3 kWh battery complemented by the 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, capable of delivering 129 hp.
The total maximum power of this version is 319 hp, sent to all four wheels, and the maximum torque is 550 Nm.
As for the other versions, Boost and Comfort, they are equipped with a 1.5-liter hybrid engine with 97 hp front-wheel drive, which works together with the 194 hp electric motor. The total power is 215 hp and the torque is 300 Nm. The Boost version battery also has a capacity of 18.3 kWh, while the Comfort version battery is powered by a 26.6 kWh battery. This offers a 100% electric range of 125 kilometers.
According to BYD, the engine charges the battery (between 25% and 70%, which is adjustable), so the electric mode is always available.
