BYD is the target of an unusual case. Fire after fire, there have already been 14 since 2021 and 10 in its dealerships in China. The latest one was in Qingkou, a city in Fujian province.
According to local media, there were no injuries, but damages exceeding half a million euros were recorded, since seven new models were destroyed and other private vehicles. It is believed that the cause of the fire may have been a short circuit in some cables in the venue's roof.
According to a report by NTDTV, this is the 14th fire recorded in BYD dealerships or factories in China.
In December last year, the flames destroyed three dealerships, but there were also two more incidents during the year of 2023. However, 2022 was no better and fires were recorded in April, at the Shaoguan facility, and in May, at the dealership's workshop in Hebei.
In June, the scene repeated itself in the Xingning district, in November in a building in the Daya Bay factory and in December in another location in the Erqi district.
In 2021, there was also a fire recorded in Hainan and it is also necessary to count on the fires in the trucks that transported BYD cars, in April and in May of the same year.
The Fuzhou Fire Department said that the burning material at the BYD 4S store today was an electric vehicle parked in the showroom. The fire rescue center received the alarm at 00:32 a.m., sending seven fire trucks and 29 firefighters to the scene. The fire was put off at 1:18… https://t.co/FJ6Ws1Gt1c pic.twitter.com/7rmDoDGFbh
