Controversy in Belgium. Standard Liège match cancelled due to fan protest
Supporters of historic Belgian club demand the departure of the American company 777, which owns the emblem.

This Friday was just another normal day for Standard. The Liège team was going to face Westerlo, in a game counting for the 8th round of the Belgian league playoffs (7:45 pm), but the duel ended up not happening... because of the fans.
Standard supporters protested against 777, the North American company that owns the historic Belgian club, and gathered in front of the Liège emblem's training centre, preventing the bus carrying the players from leaving for the stadium where the match would take place.
At 7:45 pm, the Standard players were not on the pitch of the Maurice Dufrasne Stadium. After the 30 minutes of regulatory waiting time, the referee had no choice but to cancel the match in question.
