Pedro Pichardo is second in the Marrakesh stage of the Diamond League
The Portuguese Pedro Pablo Pichardo finished second today in the triple jump competition of the Marrakech stage of the Diamond League, with 16.92 meters, while Tiago Luis Pereira was sixth, with 16.31.

Cuban Lázaro Martínez won the Moroccan competition with 17.10 meters, the best mark of the year and the meeting record, beating Nelson Évora's 16.62, which had been in effect since July 08, 2014.
Pichardo had surpassed this mark of the Olympic champion in Beijing 2008 in the first jump, at 16.76, but Martínez surpassed this record in the third attempt, while the gold medalist in Tokyo 2020 did not go beyond the 16.92 that earned him the second position.
Brazilian Almir dos Santos finished in third position, with 16.90, while Tiago Pereira, bronze in the 'indoor' World Championships this year, did not go beyond sixth place, with 16.31 in his third attempt.
