Economic sentiment falls in April by 0.6 points in the euro area
The economic sentiment indicator fell by 0.6 points in the euro area in April, to 95.6, and by 0.3 in the European Union (EU), to 96.2 euros, according to data released today by the European Commission.

According to the European Commission's Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs, the marginal decline in the indicator is due to lower confidence among business leaders in the industry and services sectors, while consumer confidence and the confidence of business leaders in the retail and construction sectors remained stable.
Among the largest European economies, economic sentiment worsened significantly in France (-4.8 points) and moderately in Italy (-1.3), while it improved in Spain (2.3), Germany (1.5), Poland (1.5) and the Netherlands (0.3 points).
The employment expectations indicator, on the other hand, fell to 101.8 points in the eurozone and 101.7 in the EU.
