NOS profit rises 94% in the 1st quarter to 67.8 million euros
NOS' profit rose 94% in the first quarter, year-on-year, to 67.8 million euros, the telecommunications group announced today.

"The net result was 67.8 million euros", and "this value incorporates an extraordinary effect of 22.2 million euros", the company said in a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM).
"Without this effect, NOS' results would be 45.7 million euros, a growth of 30.6%", the operator said.
In the same period, consolidated revenues increased by 5.7% to 403.3 million euros.
"Telecommunications revenues increased by 5.4% to 389 million euros, reflecting the increase in the number of services" and "cinema and audiovisual revenues increased by 11.6% to 22.8 million euros", NOS added.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) "improved by 6.3% compared to the first quarter of 2023, to 184.5 million euros".
The operator led by Miguel Almeida also highlights that "the number of services increased by 197 thousand compared to the same period, reaching 11.068 million".
Mobile subscribers increased by 2.6% to 5.96 million and television subscribers increased by 0.3% to 1.67 million.
Passed homes (with NOS' latest generation fixed network) evolved in the quarter by 3.1% to 5.490 million (166 thousand more than in the first quarter of 2023).
In the first three months of the year, "NOS sold more than 1.7 million cinema tickets, a growth of 14.7% compared to the first quarter of 2023", which is the best first quarter since 2019.
