Brussels predicts a drop in inflation in the eurozone to 2.5% this year
The European Commission today revised down the inflation forecast for the euro area to 2.5% in 2024 and to 2.1% next year, already practically in line with the objective of the European Central Bank (ECB).

In the spring economic forecasts, released today, the EU executive points to a slowdown in inflation compared to what had been anticipated in the previous winter exercise, released in February, and where it pointed to a rate of 2.7% this year and 2.2% in 2025, measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP).
For the European Union (EU), Brussels predicts an inflation rate also measured by the HICP of 2.7% in 2024 and 2.2% in 2025, a slowdown compared to the previous forecasts that pointed to 3.0% and 2.5%.
The unemployment rate, on the other hand, should remain at 6.6% this year, falling to 6.5% in 2025 in the eurozone countries and, respectively, at 6.1% and 6.0% in all 27 Member States.
