On 22 May, Meo launched the "world's first sustainable telecommunications and energy service", combining 100% 'green' energy with its core telecommunications business.
Asked by Lusa about its targets for the first year of this offer, a Meo official source said: "Our goal is to double our number of energy customers by the end of 2024".
Meo currently has 50,000 energy customers.
"Regardless of the services that customers are looking for, the Meo 'universe' wants to be the main 'provider' of services that connect people to life and the future", added the same source.
Regarding the objective of the telecom+electricity offer, a Meo official source explained that it aims to "take advantage of the synergies that exist between the two sectors to launch an offer that is differentiating and brings benefits to the consumer".
The new offer "is transversal to all Meo packages, which can now be complemented with energy, if the customer wishes, with cross benefits in the telecom and energy components", he explained.
Asked why the launch is happening now, a Meo official source stressed that the company, in its core area of telecommunications, "has already achieved leadership in all segments".
In a "leadership position, we also have the responsibility to think outside the box, to find new solutions that meet the present and future needs of our customers. This goes beyond simply providing telecommunications services".
