Tens of thousands march in London to demand Gaza ceasefire
Tens of thousands of people marched in London today to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and an end to UK arms sales to Israel.

The protesters, who included former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn as well as other politicians and trade unionists, marched from Parliament Square to Hyde Park, where speeches were given.
"Change will come from city to city, from country to country. The tide is turning because this is a global movement for change, a global demand for people power, for the power of the people," said the Palestinian ambassador to the UK, Husam Zomlot, referring to growing protests on university campuses in the US.
The demonstration, organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and which coincided with a smaller pro-Israel rally in Pall Mall, was closely monitored by large numbers of police.
More than 600 former UK judges, lawyers and leading academics have written to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, in a letter dated 4 April, calling for an end to arms sales to Israel, sanctions and to prevent a genocide in Gaza.
The Conservative government has refused to publish legal advice it has received on whether the Israeli state may have committed war crimes in the occupied Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, the BBC reported today that British military personnel could be used to deliver aid to Gaza by ship from Cyprus, via a temporary jetty the US is building off the coast of Gaza.
The Ministry of Defence in London also said on Friday that the Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship RFA Cardigan Bay will provide accommodation for hundreds of US sailors and marines involved in building the jetty, after Washington made clear it will not put boots on the ground in Gaza.
