The president of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions of France said today that there are students who are not attending educational institutions where hundreds of students have been demonstrating in favor of the Palestinian cause, due to fear.
The students of the Palestinian committee of the Institute of Political Studies of Paris, known as Sciences Po, announced, on Thursday, the launch of a "peaceful gathering" in the school's hall and the beginning of a hunger strike by six students "in solidarity with the Palestinian victims".
Some students "choose not to go to class because the environment is unbearable, sometimes intimidating", said Yonathan Arfi in an interview with RTL.
Certain behaviors make it so that "a Jewish student cannot continue to be a normal student", he said, "he is forced to answer questions from pro-Palestinian activists that refer the student to the issue of the Middle East". For Yonathan Arfi, this is "a form of anti-Semitism, because it is a way of discriminating against them".
It is worth remembering that the Institute of Political Studies of Paris decided to close its main facilities on Friday due to a new occupation by dozens of pro-Palestinian students, while the French Government called for the maintenance of public order in universities.
According to the same official, not all of the students who demonstrated in recent days are anti-Semites, but he argues that there was "intimidation and hate speech".
