According to the local airport authority, the B737/300 aircraft, chartered by a private airline, Transair, which was heading to Bamako, "left the runway during take-off", announced the group's communication department, according to the France-Presse (AFP) news agency.
The incident caused "11 injuries, four of which were serious" among the 78 passengers, according to the airport director. The same official added that the airport would be closed for the time being. Six other passengers were admitted for observation at the airport's medical services, according to the same source. This incident occurs at a time when three other Boeing aircraft have recently been involved in incidents in the United States, Canada and Turkey, which is raising doubts about the company's aircraft as US federal authorities investigate its quality and safety controls, according to the EFE news agency.

On 6 May, it was reported that US federal authorities are investigating Boeing after the aircraft manufacturer admitted in April that it "may not have completed" inspections on the assembly of the wings of some 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The investigation began after a former employee of the company, engineer Sam Salehpour, reported that the fuselage of the 787 Dreamliner is poorly assembled and runs the risk of breaking up in mid-flight.

Before the complaint, the aircraft manufacturer was already immersed in a deep crisis after serious quality problems were detected in the 737 MAX models, which are being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration.
