Indonesia is facing a dengue outbreak that has increased dengue-related deaths in the country by 179% since the beginning of the year through April, compared to the same period in 2023.

During that time frame, 475 people have died, compared to 170 during the same period in 2023.

In an effort to combat the outbreak, health workers have been spraying insecticide in the streets of Jakarta, the country’s capital, in order to kill the mosquitoes that transmit the disease.

At the same time, the country’s population has been urged to remain calm and focus on maintaining personal and environmental hygiene in order to prevent the disease from spreading.
