A 65-year-old American man with signs of a heart attack was rescued by the Portuguese Navy from a cruise ship sailing off the coast of Sines on Monday night, April 29.

In a statement sent to Notícias ao Minuto, the Portuguese Navy revealed that the alert was given at 9:12 p.m. A vessel from the lifeguard station was immediately activated to rescue the passenger from the ship 'MSC Orchestra', which was sailing about 33 miles, or 61 kilometers, west of the port of Sines.

The man was transported to the Sines marina, where he arrived at 00:13. The INEM was waiting at the scene and provided immediate assistance to the victim, who was later transported to a hospital unit.
