For this body of the Portuguese Episcopal Conference (CEP), it is essential not to give up, "in family and in all spaces", of guiding existence "in an attitude of fraternity".

In a message for Brothers' Day, which is celebrated on May 31, the commission led by the bishop of Bragança-Miranda, Nuno Almeida, emphasizes that "the fraternal dimension of human life is prophetic. That is, world society is called to be a family of brothers and sisters who care about each other".

"The wars and conflicts in various countries denounce that there is a long way to go to reach world fraternity recognized by all", despite the fact that the "fraternal dimension is inscribed in human nature", defends the Episcopal Commission for the Laity and Family (CELF).

In this context, "the importance of a family with a good human environment, where a child can grow up with good references of support" is highlighted, in the certainty that "good education and continued support in childhood, adolescence and youth is decisive for the building of a harmonious personality rich in human values".

The commission also considers it necessary to "recognize that what distinguishes the value of brothers is not blood, but the spirit and fraternal love that exists".

"In this sense, we find situations of fraternity between people who love each other as brothers despite not having the same family origin", recognizes CELF in the message now released.
