"We do not have a timeline because we could not have it at this time", she said, emphasizing that it is still necessary to finish the architecture project and review the functional plan of the future hospital, updating valences, medical-surgical specialties and the needs in terms of human resources and technological infrastructure.
Speaking to journalists in Barcelos, the minister recalled that this is a project that has been promised "for many years", but has never been implemented.
"Our commitment is that we will do it as soon as possible. It will be part of the infrastructure plan that this Government will launch and will implement", she added.
She stressed that the new hospital is an ambition and a need for Barcelos and that its construction was an electoral promise of the Democratic Alliance, in the campaign for the last legislative elections.
"A given word is an honored word", she said.
In 2007, the Government and the Barcelos City Council signed a protocol for the construction of the new hospital in that city.
The hospital project would then be presented publicly by the then Secretary of State for Health, Manuel Pizarro.
However, the process never left the drawer.
The hospital, which serves the municipalities of Barcelos and Esposende, operates in a building owned by the Santa Casa da Misericórdia.
