Norwegian adrift for two days rescued in Funchal
The sailboat had engine problems, drifting for several hours due to the little wind that was felt.

A Norwegian man who was adrift in a sailboat for two days was rescued by the Sanas Madeira (Santa Cruz Lifeboat Station) on Monday night.
According to a statement from the first aid station in Santa Cruz, the vessel would be used to assist the sailboat, "with only one crew member, who had been struggling for 2 days with engine problems, drifting for several hours due to the little wind that was felt".
During the afternoon he managed to get close to land and contacted the Marina do Funchal who in turn raised the alert.
"Without AIS and only with radio communication, SANAS103 carried out a quick search south of Funchal and would come across the sailboat about 300 meters from the entrance to the port and drifting towards the west", it can be read.
After assessing the health of the lone Norwegian crew member, the sailboat was towed to the Marina do Funchal.
