"About two dozen restaurants in Tondela and other neighboring municipalities will participate in the Cabrito -- Caramulo Gastronomic Week", announced the Tondela Municipal Council.
This municipality in the district of Viseu stated in a press release that the gastronomic week, promoted by the Cabrito and Serra do Caramulo Gastronomic Brotherhood, covers two weekends.
According to the local authority, this initiative has one more day than the last edition, for a total of nine days, and aims to "help leverage livestock farming, an extremely important activity for the region, so that it can be maintained and attract young people to this activity in the Serra" do Caramulo.
"Promoting the region's gastronomy, preserving one of its most typical dishes, cabrito, roasted in the oven in a black clay baking dish from Molelos, is one of the main goals of the gastronomic week".
From Thursday to Monday and from the 13th to the 16th, "cabrito will be king on the menus of 17 restaurants" located mainly in the Serra do Caramulo, in the municipalities of Tondela, Vouzela and Oliveira de Frades.
There are also seven other restaurants that have joined in other parishes in the municipality of Tondela and one in the Municipality of Águeda, in the district of Aveiro.
