"The motion is unanimously approved", announced the chairman of the congress, José Manuel Rodrigues, after stating that he had not registered any votes against or abstentions.

The vote on the motion of global strategy, a document that aims to "set the general orientation of the party", was carried out by a show of hands.

The other motion presented to the congress, by the Popular Youth, entitled 'Ensuring the Future', was withdrawn. The announcement was made by the secretary-general of the structure that represents the youth of the CDS-PP, Tomás Amaro Monteiro.

The changes to the party's statutes proposed by the board were also approved unanimously.

In the presentation of the amendments, the secretary-general of the CDS-PP, Pedro Morais Soares, explained that some amendments are related to issues identified by the Constitutional Court.

The biggest change is that the National Council of Jurisdiction will increase from seven to 11 members and will operate with two sections and a plenary. The proposal also aims to limit the sanction of suspension of a member to four years.

The last time the statutes of the CDS-PP were changed was in 2022, shortly after Nuno Melo became the party's leader.

The congressmen also approved a vote of praise for the action of the Popular Youth, proposed during the proceedings by a leader of the structure.

The first day of work of the great gathering of centrists, which started at 11:30 am, ended at 00:50 am.

The chairman of the congress, José Manuel Rodrigues, recalled that in the morning the election for the national bodies of the CDS-PP will take place, and the delegates can vote between 09:30 am and 11:30 am.

The announcement of the results is scheduled for 12:30 pm, followed by the inauguration of the new bodies and the consecration speech by Nuno Melo, who will have his mandate renewed as leader of the party.

The lists for the bodies can be submitted to the Organizing Committee of the Congress "until 02:00 am", announced the chairman of the great gathering before closing the proceedings.
