IL criticizes "regime pact" against the Justice and asks for tranquility
The leader of the IL considered today that there was "little common sense" in the suggestion of the president of the parliament for a hearing of the Attorney General of the Republic, pointing out a "regime pact" in the criticisms of the Justice and asking the parties for tranquility.

"We are living in a week in which there has been little common sense from the majority of political actors. This is true for several statements by the President of the Republic and I also include in this dimension this suggestion by the President of the Assembly of the Republic because there is no competence of the President of the Assembly of the Republic that allows him, as such, to call the Attorney General of the Republic", Rui Rocha replied to journalists on the sidelines of a party initiative in Costa da Caparica, in Almada.
According to the liberal president, a possible hearing of Lucília Gago will always depend on an initiative by the parties.
"The President of the Assembly of the Republic making this suggestion seems absurd to me and it seems to me that it does not add much because the Attorney General of the Republic, at the initiative of one of the parties, will provide general clarifications or would have to come and talk about specific issues of the cases that concern the Portuguese. This seems to me an undesirable interference in the principle of separation of powers", he condemned.
Rui Rocha stated that there is "a kind of regime pact" that worries him since, despite there being reasons for criticism, there is a "convergence of interests in the sense of questioning the credibility of Justice".
"It seems to me a regime pact that certainly does not benefit Justice, so I am beginning to wonder what is driving this central bloc in the sense of questioning Justice", he pointed out.
In the opinion of the leader of the IL, Lucília Gago "has a reflection" since it does not seem to him to be "innocent this profusion of statements by both the President of the Assembly of the Republic and the President of the Republic about the existing Machiavellianism" or even by the PS.
"There are two challenges: Justice has to be more effective, the errors of Justice are always regrettable when they are committed, but there has to be tranquility in the parties", he asked.
For Rui Rocha, "it is not by attacking the Attorney General, making public comments about her performance, attacking Justice that citizens will be more tranquil".
BE, PCP, Livre and PAN defended on the eve the hearing of the Attorney General of the Republic (PGR) in parliament on the performance of the Public Prosecutor's Office, insisting on the need for explanations, a hypothesis that Chega considered inadequate.
These positions were assumed in the Assembly of the Republic, in statements to journalists, after the president of parliament, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, had considered on Friday, in an interview with Antena 1, that Lucília Gago should provide explanations to parliament about the processes that caused political crises.
At issue are investigations by the Public Prosecutor's Office such as those that led to the fall of the previous executive, led by António Costa, and of the Madeira government, headed by Miguel Albuquerque, causing early elections in both cases.
