In a statement, the Political Commission of the PCP Central Committee highlights "the profound significance and dimension of the popular celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Revolution", which "filled squares, avenues and streets, affirming April, its values and topicality".

For the party, the thousands of initiatives carried out throughout the country "constituted a strong expression of the determination of workers and the people to exalt and defend the values, achievements and transformative project that the Revolution embodied".

"The immense participation and the contents of the numerous popular demonstrations showed an enormous collective commitment of the Portuguese people to defend democracy and freedom conquered in April, as well as other economic, social, cultural and civilizational rights", it is stated.

The PCP also argues that the mobilization is an "unforgettable response to those who try to erase the profound significance of this date and of that founding and genuinely new time that opened up, to those who, dissatisfied with what it represented, seek to downplay, adulterate and diminish it, to those who promote the whitewashing of fascism and a reactionary vision of society".

It was a "remarkable response from entire generations (...) to those who aspire to make the country regress to the dark times that the courageous military initiative of the captains and the immediate popular uprising, translated into the People-MFA Alliance, defeated", it is stated.

The PCP, without referring to any specific political force, also emphasizes that the "authentic and massive" participation forced "even some who, due to their choices and politics, seek to deny April" to not stay out of it.

The Political Commission of the PCP Central Committee greets all those who "took to the streets to commemorate April", while affirming "the demand for that better life that the Revolution announced, reaffirming their commitment to continue their intervention and their commitment to these objectives".

"It also greets all those who continue the fight against historical revisionism and the whitewashing of fascism, recording as an important victory the creation of the National Museum of Resistance and Freedom in the Peniche Fortress", which opened to the public this Saturday, it is emphasized.

For the PCP, "this April reveals energies and capacities that must be incorporated into the struggle of workers and the popular masses, with the confidence that united and organized they can defeat attacks and attempts at regression and impose a response to their problems and aspirations".

"Starting on May 1st. (...) The Political Commission of the PCP Central Committee appeals to workers and the people, to young people and women, to retirees and immigrants, for the development of the struggle on May 1st and beyond, so that they make their voices heard in defense of their rights", it is stated.

The PCP calls for mobilization "for an alternative policy, which breaks with right-wing policy and promotes the economic and social progress and development that April initiated, a horizon thwarted by decades of counter-revolutionary process, to the detriment of the people and the country, an alternative policy that the situation today reaffirms as indispensable".
