According to the request submitted to the parliamentary inquiry committee, the PS requested the hearing of 14 individuals.
Ana Paula Martins is summoned in her capacity as former president of the Board of Directors of the Lisbon North University Hospital Center (CHULN).
In the document, the socialists refrain from calling the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the former Minister of Health Marta Temido, as other parliamentary groups have done.
The parliamentary group also requests the hearings of the former personal secretary of the Office of the Secretary of State for Health Carla Silva, the former president of the Board of Directors of the Lisbon North University Hospital Center Daniel Ferro, the president of Infarmed, Rui Santos Ivo, and the president of the Institute of Registries and Notaries (IRN), Filomena Rosa.
The PS also wants to hear the doctor who accompanied the children, Teresa Moreno, the coordinator of the CHULN's Neuropaediatric unit, António Levy Gomes, the former clinical director of the CHULN Luís Pinheiro, the director of the CHULN's Department of Pediatrics, Ana Isabel Lopes, the internal audit technician responsible for preparing the CHULN's audit report, the physiotherapist Miguel Gonçalves and the specialist in respiratory rehabilitation John Bach, the latter in writing.
The party represented on the committee by João Paulo Correia, Ana Abrunhosa and André Rijo also requested the reports from the General Inspectorate for Health Activities (IGAS) and the CHULN audit.
Among other documents, the PS requests the correspondence exchanged between the Presidency of the Republic and Nuno Rebelo de Sousa, the CHULN and the Office of the former Prime Minister António Costa.
It also requests the information exchanged between the twins' mother and the Dona Estefânia Hospital and the CHULN.
Also within the scope of the committee, the correspondence exchanged between the Office of the former Prime Minister António Costa and the Ministry of Health is requested.
The parliamentary inquiry committee will meet on Wednesday to, among other things, appoint the rapporteur, consider and vote on the draft regulation, consider and vote on the time schedule and establish the methodology of operation.
At issue is the treatment, in 2020, of two Brazilian-resident twins who acquired Portuguese nationality, with the drug Zolgensma. With a total cost of four million euros (two million euros per person), this drug aims to control the spread of spinal muscular atrophy, a neurodegenerative disease.
The case was reported by TVI last November and is still being investigated by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) and IGAS has already concluded that access to these children's neuropaediatric consultation was illegal.
An internal audit by the Santa Maria Hospital also concluded that the scheduling of a first hospital consultation by the Secretary of State for Health was the only exception to compliance with the rules in this case.
