Amazon has announced that it is developing a TV series based on the “Legally Blonde” films for Prime Video. The announcement was made with a video featuring Reese Witherspoon, who played protagonist Elle Woods in the 2001 and 2003 films.
The series is currently known as “Elle” and, according to Variety, will focus on Elle Woods’ high school years — effectively serving as an origin story for the character.
“I’m so excited to have ‘Elle’ come to life at Prime Video,” Witherspoon said in a statement. “With her signature optimism and unwavering determination, Elle Woods has always been an inspiration to me and so many other people. I can’t wait to see her journey continue as a young woman navigating the complexities of high school.”
No premiere date has been set for the “Legally Blonde” series.
