Finnish Teemu Suninen, in a Hyundai I20, was forced to give up this year's edition of the Rally of Portugal, after a spectacular accident in the Arganil area.
The driver, who was in sixth place in the WRC2, lost control of his Hyundai i20 in a high-speed section of the special stage, causing the car to roll over several times. The pair escaped unharmed.
"Unfortunately the race is over for us, at least for today. We crashed on the first pass of the Arganil stage and the damage is too great to continue today. We will give an update later if it is possible to get the car running on Saturday," reads a note posted on Suninen's official X social media account.
