After having already criticized the refereeing in the flash interview, claiming that FC Porto players suffer from "nervousness" because they are being "prejudiced", Sérgio Conceição spoke about the difference in criteria in the press conference after the defeat to Vitória SC.
"There is a team that commits 23 fouls, has 5 or 6 yellows, some even for arguing. We have six fouls, one red and two yellows. We are already losing a little... the feeling I have is that we are starting to lose the joy and passion for football. There is a lot of negativity. Starting with what we didn't do and should have done. But then it has been a constant, whenever we want to get closer to the front...", he said.
More specifically about Pepe's expulsion, Conceição recalls the Lisbon derby. "I saw a team lose in the derby, the so-called eternal derby, and we could get closer to second place. But this way it is very difficult. But they will have to take us with them until the end, fighting as we can fight. Within these absences, which it seems will be usual for us to have. There is courage to expel Pepe, there is courage and he was probably well expelled. There is no courage to expel a Benfica player, Di María, to expel Hjulmand. For some there is courage, for others there is not. This is Portuguese football", he concluded.
