Corinthians entered the new season of the main echelon of Brazilian football on the 'wrong foot' this Sunday, by failing to go beyond a goalless draw against Atlético Mineiro at the Neo Química Arena.

A match in which the team led by António Oliveira played the entire second half with a numerical advantage, due to the expulsion of Rodrigo Battaglia, a former Sporting player. After the final whistle, the Portuguese coach harshly criticized the referee, Yuri Elino da Cruz, and also saw a red card.

In the press conference that followed the duel, he himself said: "Everyone does their job as best they can. Now, the judge... I wouldn't like to have that job. The world is watching, you can't fail, you have a family. Surely, he does things honestly".

"Now, you can't want to compensate in the second half for something you did, and well. In the second half, he was compensating for something that was wrong, but that was right and well done", he said, in statements reproduced by the Brazilian portal Globoesporte.

"It's not possible to have 60% of the ball stopped in a second half. To value the show, we have to start somewhere. There was the situation of Yuri on the ground, the referee let it go... It can't be. There are problems with criteria", he added.
