"Estoril-FC Porto? Referee almost asked for a blessing to overturn the penalty"

Sérgio Conceição returned on Tuesday to the charge against the refereeing, following the release of communications between the referee and the VAR, in the defeat suffered in the visit to Estoril, by 1-0, in a game counting for the 27th round of the I League.
"We could have stayed, before a derby, four points behind the leader, and a penalty was reversed in an excessive way, I think that was the word used by those responsible. But it's over, there's nothing to do. What amazes me is the referee, who is the commander of the game, almost asking for the VAR's blessing to have that penalty canceled", he said.
"If you look at what the audio was, it's unbelievable. I don't know who's in charge anymore, if it's the referee, if it's the VAR. I don't know if it's a penalty, if it's not a penalty, who has more power...", he continued, referring to the controversial move between Francisco Conceição and Eliaquim Mangala, in the penalty area.
"We are the team that needs the least fouls to have red cards. It's 45 fouls for a red card. Sporting de Braga is the last, with 300 and some fouls to have a red card. Sporting is close, Benfica a little less...", he added.
