'Sociedade da Neve' was the big winner at the Platino Awards
The film 'The Snowbound' won the 11th edition of the Platino Ibero-American Awards in six of the seven categories in which it was nominated, in which the Portuguese candidates were not among the winners, the organization announced.

Co-produced by Spain, Chile, Uruguay and the United States for Netflix, the film, about the plane crash that occurred in the Andes in 1972, by Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona, won the categories of best Ibero-American fiction film, director, actor, editing, cinematography and sound design, at a ceremony on Saturday, in Cancun, Mexico.
The films 'Nayola', by José Miguel Ribeiro, and 'They Killed the Piano Player', by Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal, co-produced by Portugal, were nominated in the animation category, in which 'Robot Dreams' was the winner.
'Nayola' is the first feature film by Portuguese director José Miguel Ribeiro, having already been awarded and screened at several festivals and premiered in Portuguese cinemas.
'They Killed the Piano Player' is a documentary by Spanish directors Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal, with Humberto Santana, founder of Animanostra, as co-producer.
The Platino Awards are organized by the Audiovisual Producers' Rights Management Entity and the Ibero-American Federation of Film and Audiovisual Producers, in partnership with film academies and institutes in the Ibero-American region.
