The organization highlighted the recent series "At Least Until the World Stops Going Round", produced three years ago after a suicide attempt.

During three months under medical surveillance, Tallott, originally from Leeds, in the north of England, used photography as a refuge, "trying to create utopian realities through his images".

"The work acts as a euphoric counterbalance to his real-life experience at the time. The bright snapshots act as a window into the most saturated and happy scenes, while the black-and-white images scattered throughout the project act as sobering, solitary moments", the award organization describes in a statement.

"This series is a testament to the power of photography to help the photographer reframe their world and in turn allow us to reframe our own", commented Nikon's Marketing Director for Northern Europe, Julian Harvie.

The award consists of a Nikon Z series camera and the choice of two lenses, as well as training from the Japanese brand.

Tallot was among nine finalists that included Inês d'Orey, born in 1977 in Porto, and represented by the Salgadeiras Arte Contemporânea gallery.
