Barcelona were eliminated from the Champions League 'quarterfinals' on Tuesday after being thrashed by Paris SG (1-4, 4-6 aggregate), with a French comeback driven by Ronald Araújo's expulsion, when the Catalans were winning by a one-goal difference (two in the tie overall), but there is a move involving João Cancelo that is also causing a stir.

Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United star, analyzed the Montjuic match on TNT Sports and did not hesitate to call the Portuguese defender "foolish" and "naive" because of his approach in the move that allowed the 1-3 in the match (and consequent 'somersault' in the tie), committing a penalty that was exemplarily converted by Kylian Mbappé.

"It was foolish. By moving away from the goal, the winger is there, there is no need to jump. He should know. It is naive. It is practically a tackle by a young and inexperienced player who seemed to be in a panic," he began by saying, in statements quoted in the Daily Mail.

"João Cancelo had the situation under control. It was not necessary. You need to know where you are on the field. Defenders have to be on their feet as long as possible and as far inside the area as possible," he added.
