Rafael Leão recalls Sporting: "Why am I not playing?"
Portuguese international reveals how he changed his 'chip', at "16 or 17 years old".

Rafael Leão gave an extensive interview to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Tuesday, in which he addressed several topics, including the difficulties he felt in asserting himself in Sporting's youth teams.
The Portuguese international revealed that he was only able to change his 'chip' to professional football "when he was 16 or 17 years old". Even so, it was just in time to build a successful career, asserting himself in the lions' main team before moving to Lille and, more recently, to AC Milan, where he is now.
"Before that, I was at Sporting, of course, but I saw some of my teammates playing more minutes than me, more games... I thought to myself 'Why am I not playing?'. Two years later, a coach came to me in pre-season," he said.
"We talked and he told me 'Rafa, you can be whatever you want. Just stay focused, I'll help you and try to help you improve on the things you don't have'. I think that moment helped me a lot. From then on, I started to grow," he added.
