The Olympic athlete, the only Portuguese in this second World Cup, only had a direct spot for the final, so he imposed himself in his qualifying round, in 1.51.42 minutes, beating the Austrian Timon Maurer, second, 2.70 seconds behind.

The final takes place on Saturday, the day he also participates in K1 1,000 meters, a distance in which he won a bronze medal at the Tokyo2020 Olympic Games.

On Sunday, the Limian also competes in K1 5,000, a distance in which he is usually on the podium.

After the silver medal in London2012, in K2 1,000 meters, together with Emanuel Silva, and the bronze in Tokyo in K1 1,000, Pimenta goes to Paris2024 in search of the metal he lacks, the gold, also in K1 1,000 meters.

João Ribeiro and Messias Baptista, World champions in K2 500 meters, and Teresa Portela, who will be present in K1 500 at the Games, have waived this competition to focus solely on Paris2024.
