Azores with 4,899 unemployed registered in March
The Azores had 4,899 unemployed registered at the region's Qualification and Employment Center at the end of March, during which month 118 Azoreans were placed in the job market, the Regional Government said today.

In a press release today, the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment indicates that there were "4,899 unemployed registered at the region's Qualification and Employment Center at the end of March, with a decrease of 0.89% in those registered seeking first and new employment compared to the previous month, February, and 11.04% compared to the same month" in 2023.
In that month "113 more offers were met, which resulted in the placement of 118 Azoreans in the job market".
According to the note, of the unemployed who were looking for a new job, "75.46% were in the services sector and accounted for 89.59% of all unemployed registered".
By island, São Miguel registered 66.99% of the unemployed in the region, Terceira island 15.29%, Pico 5.70%, Faial 4.04%, São Jorge 2.31%, Graciosa 2.08%, Flores 1.84%, Santa Maria 1.71% and Corvo 0.04%.
As for the municipalities, Ponta Delgada, Ribeira Grande and Angra do Heroísmo represented in March "57.28% of all unemployed registered in the Azores".
In the socio-professional integration programs, according to the Azorean executive coalition PSD/CDS-PP/PPM, there were "1,682 employed in the region, 901 men and 781 women".
Regarding the measures to promote youth employment, at the end of March "1,642 young people were observed developing projects in a real work context, with emphasis on the L and T Internship", and 301 Azoreans were in training.
