The Tax Authority (AT) has clarified how married taxpayers should file their IRS return if they want to benefit from - and are entitled to - the salary bonus. After all, what should they do?
"You can file your IRS return jointly with your spouse or de facto partner, and you must declare income from dependent work or business and professional income as a taxable person. If you do not opt for joint taxation, you must file your own IRS return in order to benefit from the salary bonus", explains the AT in a publication shared on the social network Facebook.
It should be noted that young workers residing in Portugal, of Portuguese or foreign nationality, can request and/or receive, up to the year in which they turn 35, a salary bonus for having obtained bachelor's or master's degrees.
The bonus (also called tuition refund) is paid annually by the AT.
