The data compiled and published by Pordata reveal that the pension system in Portugal faces a challenge, as there are fewer active people contributing to an increasing number of pensioners.
"The pension system in Portugal faces a challenge: there are fewer active people contributing to an increasing number of pensioners", reveals Pordata, in a publication shared on social network X (formerly Twitter).
Now, "in 1974, there were eight contributors for each pension", but "today there are two for each of these benefits, whether from Social Security or CGA [General Retirement Fund]".
O sistema de pensões em Portugal enfrenta um desafio: há menos pessoas ativas a contribuírem para um número cada vez maior de pensionistas. Em 1974, havia oito contribuintes por cada pensão. Hoje, são dois por cada um destes apoios, quer da Segurança Social, quer da CGA.
