The data compiled and published by Pordata reveal that the pension system in Portugal faces a challenge, as there are fewer active people contributing to an increasing number of pensioners.
"The pension system in Portugal faces a challenge: there are fewer active people contributing to an increasing number of pensioners", reveals Pordata, in a publication shared on social network X (formerly Twitter).
Now, "in 1974, there were eight contributors for each pension", but "today there are two for each of these benefits, whether from Social Security or CGA [General Retirement Fund]".
