"Negotiations between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan will take place in Almaty on May 10," the Armenian Foreign Ministry said.
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the readiness of the representatives of Yerevan and Baku to meet in Almaty, the city where a declaration was signed in 1991 that established the border of the former Soviet republics after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
"It is symbolic that the meeting will be held in Almaty, where the historic declaration was signed in December 1991," Tokayev said.
The previous meeting between the heads of diplomacy of the two countries took place last February in Berlin.
This is the first high-level diplomatic meeting between representatives of Yerevan and Baku after the two countries reached an agreement last month on the delimitation and demarcation of borders, an issue that had been pending since the end of the Soviet Union.
