The MP is investigating "facts that may constitute the crime of embezzlement" due to suspicions that there was "appropriation of monetary amounts belonging to users", as stated in a note from that department, available on the 'site'.
There are also suspicions that funds transferred by Social Security to the social canteen were withdrawn from the foundation, registered as a Private Institution of Social Solidarity (IPSS) since 1999 with public utility status.
According to a published note, the Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DCIAP) states that the process originated from a complaint received by the MP.
The processes that "have as their object the practice of facts that may constitute the crime of mistreatment of users of residential care structures for the elderly (licensed or unlicensed) and/or of undue appropriation of their income and assets and of other criminal conduct associated with the operation of these structures, namely offenses of an economic and financial nature, are being concentrated in the DCIAP", is also mentioned in the note.
