The Portuguese Navy, through the ships NRP Viana do Castelo and NRP Orion, monitored the Russian supply ship Vice Admiral Paromov.

The monitoring began on May 10, "the day the ship entered the northern limit of the Exclusive Economic Zone of the continent, off the coast of Caminha", until this Sunday, May 12, according to the Navy informed in a statement.

"The Navy ships acted in addition to the permanent monitoring action carried out by the Maritime Operations Center. The Navy guarantees an active and continuous surveillance of the areas under national sovereignty or jurisdiction, ensuring the security of the national maritime spaces and contributing to the collective defense within the framework of the Atlantic Alliance", reads the information note.

In it, the Navy guarantees that "it will continue to monitor and follow the passage of this type of ship, carrying out a permanent patrol of the maritime spaces under national sovereignty or jurisdiction in order to ensure that no activities harmful to the country are carried out and to promote and protect the interests of Portugal in and through the sea".
