According to a source from the Coimbra PJ, in addition to being subjected to an identity and residence term as a measure of coercion, the two inspectors from the Figueira da Foz City Council were also suspended from their duties.
During the first interrogation to which they were subjected during this afternoon, the two civil servants, who chose not to make statements, were also prohibited from contacting each other.
"They cannot contact two other suspects who have since been named as defendants, nor any witnesses already identified in the proceedings", added the same source.
On Tuesday, the PJ arrested two inspectors from the Figueira da Foz City Council on suspicion of committing crimes of corruption and abuse of power.
They are suspected of having requested and accepted undue advantages in order to avoid carrying out their duties, within the scope of construction processes, revealed the PJ's national directorate.
The suspects' modus operandi allegedly involved demanding monetary amounts following pressure in the context of procedures related to construction projects.
The investigation, carried out by the PJ's Central Directorate, executed eight search warrants at homes and other locations.
