A source from the Judiciary Police (PJ) indicated that the woman was present at the first Judicial interrogation in the Setúbal Court, which ordered her the most serious measure of coercion. A source from the PJ's Setúbal Criminal Investigation Department told Lusa today that the woman was arrested on Tuesday. In a statement, the PJ specified that the suspect was arrested outside the crime scene, in the municipality of Sines, because there were "strong suspicions of the practice of a crime of attempted qualified homicide in the context of domestic violence". The suspect and the victim "had been in a relationship for two years", during which time "several episodes of domestic violence were known, both verbal and physical, the causes of which are related to the aggressor's dependency", added the PJ in the statement. According to a source from the PJ's Setúbal Criminal Investigation Department, the aggressor's dependency is related to drugs. Last Monday, this police added in the statement, during an argument, the woman "stabbed the victim several times, which could have caused his death, using a kitchen knife". At dawn that day, a source from the Santiago do Cacém Detachment of the GNR explained to Lusa that the victim alerted the authorities after being "stabbed in the chest area". "Upon arriving at the scene, the military from the Sines GNR post found the man alone, inside the house and in serious condition", explained the same source. Also speaking to Lusa, the commander of the Sines Volunteer Firefighters, Vítor Gonçalves, only indicated that the victim had "various injuries". "When the firefighters arrived at the scene, they came across an individual, possibly a victim of aggression, with various injuries and in a serious condition", he said. The man was transported to the Litoral Alentejano Hospital, in the neighboring municipality of Santiago do Cacém and later, was transferred by helicopter to a hospital unit in Lisbon. The woman ended up being located by the military from the Sines Post on the public road, and was then taken to the Judiciary Police facilities in Setúbal to be interrogated.
