Xbox division president Sarah Bond took advantage of the Bloomberg Technology Summit to announce plans to launch a virtual store for Android phones and also iPhones. The launch is scheduled for July.
The executive noted that in this store it will be possible to find games developed by the internal studios of Microsoft's video game division, with titles such as ‘Candy Crush’ and ‘Minecraft’ being among the first confirmations.
“We are going to start on the ‘web’ and we are going to do it because it allows us to create an experience that is accessible on all devices, all countries, regardless of the policies of closed ecosystems and stores”, noted Bond.
It is worth remembering that the launch of this virtual store on iPhones is possible thanks to the Digital Markets Act that recently came into force in the European Union, a legislation that forces Apple to allow users to download apps and games from alternatives to the App Store.
