Daniel Soares' film will compete among short films at Cannes
The film 'Mau por um momento', by Portuguese director Daniel Soares, has been selected for the official short film competition at the Cannes Film Festival, in France, it was announced today.

"A 'team-building' event goes wrong and forces the owner of an architecture studio to face the reality of the working-class neighborhood that his company is gentrifying," says the synopsis.
Daniel Soares, a German-born director, photographer, and screenwriter, is also the author of other short films, including the award-winning 'O que resta' (2021) and 'Please make it work' (2022).
'Mau por um momento' is in the official competition for short films at Cannes, in the same section that awarded the Palme d'Or in 2009 to 'Arena' by João Salaviza.
The Brazilian production 'Amarela' by André Hayato Saito is also in this year's competition.
The 77th Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 14 to 25 and will also feature other Portuguese films.
In the feature film competition, also competing for the Palme d'Or, is 'Grand Tour' by Miguel Gomes, while in the Critics' Week, one of the parallel programs, the short film 'As minhas sensações são tudo o que tenho para oferecer' by Isadora Neves Marques is competing.
In the Directors' Fortnight, another parallel program, will be the feature film 'A Savana e a Montanha' by Paulo Carneiro, and the short films 'Quando a terra foge' by Frederico Lobo, and 'O jardim em movimento' by Inês Lima.
In a co-production with Portugal, the film 'Algo viejo, algo nuevo, algo prestado' by Argentine director Hermán Rosselli will also be presented.
