French Actor Omar Sy Joins Jury of Cannes Film Festival
The 77th Cannes Film Festival, which begins in two weeks, announced today the composition of the jury, which includes Omar Sy, "Lupin" in the Netflix series and the face of French cinema in the world.

At 40, Gerwig, a personality of American auteur cinema and box office queen with "Barbie" last year, is the youngest president since Sofia Loren, in 1966.
The director is joined by French actor Omar Sy, 46, who is taking the next step in a career that began in comedy ("Omar et Fred"), reaching Hollywood as an actor and producer and integrating popular successes in France ("Amigos Improváveis") and on Netflix ("Lupin").
Cannes has chosen one of the stars of French cinema who is representative of the diversity of society, indicating that Omar Sy was born in the Parisian suburb of Trappes and is the son of parents from the border between Senegal and Mauritania, according to the news agency France-Presse.
Alongside Omar will be French actress Eva Green, 43, known for roles in France (most recently in "Les Trois Mousquetaires") and Hollywood, namely with Tim Burton ("Dumbo" and "Dark Shadows") or alongside Daniel Craig in James Bond ("007 - Casino Royal").
The list also includes Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino ("Il Traditore"), Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-Eda, winner of the Palme d'Or in 2018 with "Shoplifters - A Family of Little Thieves", Spanish filmmaker Juan Antonio Bayona ("The Snow Society"), Lebanese director Nadine Labaki ("Capernaum"), 50, and Turkish screenwriter and photographer Ebru Ceylan, 48.
With the jury complete, the 22 films in competition to succeed "Anatomy of a Fall" by Justine Triet, winner of the Palme d'Or in 2023, and more than a hundred films announced, including in the parallel selections, the world's largest film festival is ready to begin.
Just two months before the Olympic Games, this event is seen as a dress rehearsal in terms of security for the authorities.
Some of the biggest names in cinema are expected this year, including "Star Wars" creator Georges Lucas, for an honorary Palme d'Or, and actors such as Demi Moore, Emma Stone, Selena Gomez, Adam Driver or Richard Gere.
The festival's opening ceremony will be presented on May 14 by Camille Cottin, with the screening of Quentin Dupieux's latest comedy, "Le deuxième acte".
