If you find mold and mildew in your home, it's best to deal with the issue sooner rather than later. That's because it could be putting your health at risk, experts have revealed to Metro .
Breathing problems and allergic reactions are among the issues you need to be concerned about. "If you have an underlying lung condition, such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, mould spores can also worsen your symptoms and trigger an asthma attack or flare-up, which could be life-threatening," explains Erika Radford from Asthma + Lung UK.

"Damp and mould can also increase your risk of other things that can make your lung condition worse, such as chest infections, colds and flu."
"It can cause or exacerbate symptoms such as sneezing, sore and red eyes or a rash. It can also have a significant impact on a person’s lifestyle, such as causing sleep problems, and affect their quality of life," says pharmacist Abbas Kanani.
For men specifically, mold "could have implications for lowering testosterone levels, which could cause erectile dysfunction." While for women, it could lead to "weight gain, reduced libido and mood swings."
