It's important for your bedroom to be a comfortable space. It's impossible for it to be a relaxing space if it's cluttered. That's why Better Homes and Gardens had Mary Cornetta, a professional organizer, list a few things you should never keep in your bedroom.

Three things you should never keep in your bedroom:
- Empty chairs or ottomans. They easily become a place to pile clean and dirty clothes. "If you really want to keep the chair, commit to clearing it off regularly (at least once or twice a week)," she says.
- Uncomfortable bedding and pillows. When "your pillows have gone flat or your sheets have gotten pilled, it's time to upgrade your bedding." Don't be tempted to keep the old, ratty bedding for backup.
- Clutter. "Avoid clutter by strategically placing one or two meaningful pieces in the room and storing the rest elsewhere."
- Paperwork. She says, "Unless you absolutely have to work in your bedroom, clear out any and all paperwork from the space."
- Exercise equipment. In general, "bulky machines—like a stationary bike or treadmill—take up valuable floor space and collect dust and debris."
