Lifestyle Higiene
You already know that your workout clothes and sneakers should be washed more carefully than your regular clothes. But there are also more hygienic ways to store everything, says Amanda Place, a personal trainer and founder of Sculptrition, as quoted in Woman & Home. Need some help?
How (and where) to store your workout gear:
- Always fold, don't hang. "Hanging activewear can stretch out the fabrics and cause them to lose their shape," advises the PT. Fold neatly instead.
- Don't wear the same items over and over. She recommends wearing different items whenever you can to "avoid overworking specific items";
- Store footwear properly. "Keep trainers in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight. Stuff them with paper to help them keep their shape," she advises;
- Avoid overcrowding. In other words, "don't cram too many items into your storage spaces," as this can lead to creasing and misshaping of fabrics, she explains. "Give each item enough space to keep its shape."
