A traffic stop on a highway south of the Danish capital of Copenhagen turned into an unusual standoff when the driver, a 26-year-old woman, locked her car and refused to speak to a police officer.

According to a police report cited by the Associated Press, the incident occurred in late April, when the woman, who was not identified, was pulled over near the town of Koege for talking on her cellphone while driving and not wearing a seatbelt.

Authorities said the car also had worn tires, a missing rear window and no insurance.

Officers had to call a locksmith to open the car, and the woman was then arrested and taken to a nearby hospital for a blood test.

Inside the car, police found two folding knives, which led to additional charges.

In Denmark, police are allowed to search a vehicle after pulling someone over for a traffic violation.
