The compilation of the results by his own camp "confirms the victory in the first round, the victory of change over the 'status quo'", Masra announced in a long speech reproduced on social networks.
The electoral commission planned to announce the official results at 10:00 pm local time (8:00 pm in Lisbon).
Masra, a candidate for the Les Transformateurs party, ran against the transitional president and head of the military junta in power for the past three years, General Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, who appointed him prime minister on January 1.
The announcement of the election results was initially scheduled to be made by May 21, the deadline for the validation of the process by the Constitutional Council, made up of members trusted by Mahamat Déby.
No calendar is known for a possible second round of these presidential elections, nor is it known when the legislative elections will be held, which should have preceded this vote, under penalty of this reverse process producing "clientelism" instead of "real parties running for the Chadian parliament", as the analyst for the Institute for Securities Studies (ISS) for Central Africa, Remadji Hoinathy, recently pointed out in statements to Lusa.
