McDonald's Is Changing the Iconic Happy Meal Box. And There's a Reason
For almost 40 years now, the menu has been sold in a red box with a big yellow smile.

For the past 38 years, McDonald's Happy Meal has come in a red box with a big yellow smile. Now, the fast-food giant is taking the iconic grin off its boxes. The reason? To teach kids that it's OK not to be happy all the time.
Instead, the boxes will come with a sheet of stickers featuring a range of emotions, which youngsters can use to express how they are feeling.
The red packaging will also include a QR code to give its young customers access to a range of resources on emotional wellbeing.
The move comes during Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK, after research suggested that nearly half of children feel under pressure to be constantly happy.
Football legend Rio Ferdinand has teamed up with the company to back the campaign, which runs until May 19.
